The Notorious Elements in the Songs of Yo Yo Honey Singh

Notorious Songs of Honey Singh

The Punjabi rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh is one of the famous Bollywood singers. He has produced many songs for the Bollywood films and also created self made video songs independently. He has earned fame by making the songs like Punjabi songs, Folk songs, remix songs and rap songs according to the taste of the people. But most of his songs are now in troubles because as the lyrics of his songs depict the aspects of feminism negatively.

Honey Singh has become the most controversial body for the critics and the people as well. The most notorious song of Honey Singh, ‘Balatkari’ has the dishonorable lyrics that can create insecurity and anxiety for the women. As he sings in this song,

Raat ko nikali naari
hui gadi pe savaari
par voh raat usko pad gayi bhari.

Peeche se aaya main
utari uski saari
kachchi phadi
lung gaadi
aur gaand maari.

Kyunki main..........
Kyunki main..........
Kyunki main hoon ek balatkari.
Kyunki main..........
Kyunki main..........
Kyunki main hoon balatkari.

This song can easily invoke the rates of the gang rapes as most recently the incident of Delhi gang rape can also be referred to such songs that are enough to increase these incidents. It is contradictory for Honey Singh as he lives in the land which has faced many crimes along with the biggest crime of rape. The production of such vulgar songs can create nothing but the offensiveness among the young generation.

The other controversial topic of his songs is related to the composer of the sound track of the movie, Chennai Express, who was annoyed with the team members as to including the elements of rapping in the songs of the film. The music composer, Vishal Dadlani has revealed his ill condition for having Yo Yo Honey Singh’s rap by stating that, “It’s hilarious and pathetic, how desperately this tacky rape-rapper is trying to ride on the fame of @iamsrk and #Chennai Express. Poor guy.”

But later Vishal has recognized the fact that actually Honey was not intended to “ride on fame” rather he was trying to sing the song in the Lungi. As the Mumbai Mirror declared, “They first came to know about it when Honey said on TV that he was composing a racy number for Chennai Express. They immediately called up the makers of the film but the producers brushed it off as a rumour. It was only after the song was recorded that Vishal-Shekhar learnt about it.”

Honey Singh, the composer and the Indian songs rapper, has faced most controversies as he has promoted the songs that are not on the base to describe the main issues rather he prompted the works that are interweaved and embedded with the notorious elements. The lyrics of another song of Honey Singh are,

Ghar pe chalna hai yaa pehle jayegi club
Nahi, mera matlab, Ghar ke Club?
Tab lunga left, nahi to right!
Club mein hoga shor, baby ghar pe pillow fight
You decide ki kya karna hai
Tujhko to zara sa bhi dar na hai
Champagne ger di hai tune meri pants pe
Aur kehti hai change karlo hotel leke rent pe'...

This is the lyrics of the song Blue Eyes, by Honey Singh. This song might not ping the man and it is regarded as his songs are made in the opposition of women. In the response of his songs, a very famous female rapper has given the proper answer to him as,

“I am not a woofer. And you sure as hell ain't my amplifier. I mean what are you, a f***king transformer? I am flawless, You are flawless, we are flawless and don’t let Honey Singh tell you any differently..."

To conclude the above discussion into a nutshell, we can say that although the music of Honey Singh songs might be catchy and can soothe the minds of the audiences but on the counterpart the lyrics of the songs are just notorious and they are more less or insufficient to describe the integrity of a woman. It is a derogatory for him that numerous critics including males and females gave their reactions as according to the law of Newton,

“For every male action, there is a female reaction”.
